Know When It’s Time to See a Sports Medicine Physician
If you think your pain may be due to athletic injuries or conditions or if you are experiencing any of the symptoms described below, you should contact a doctor near you for treatment, which may include surgery:
- Limited range of motion in the affected joint or joints
- Muscle and joint stiffness in the affected area
- Pain or discomfort when trying to perform a specific sport
- Popping or snapping sensation near the affected joint
- Severe pain that keeps you awake at night
- Swelling in the affected joints
You should also see a medical physician or surgeon if you have a fever or if your skin reddens, becomes warmer, and/or becomes more sensitive since you could have an infection that could have prolonged affects on your health.
